MANDALUYONG CITY — Vice President Sara Duterte and the employees of the Office of Vice President opened the annual OVP Sportsfest at the Central Office here Thursday morning.
In her message, Duterte said a great lesson awaits those who will not win in the competitions.
“Para kanino ba talaga ang isang sports fest? So naisip ko na ang sports fest ay para sa mga matatalo. Ano ba’ng makukuha ng winner? They get the prizes, they get the accolades, they get the happiness. But what lessons did you learn kung nanalo ka?” Duterte asked.
She said losing gives people a chance to reflect on their game — and this allows them to improve and become better players in the future.
“Sa Binisaya pa, “pildi is pildi” (losing is losing). (But) you will be thinking about how to improve yourselves and become winners next year,” she said.
The three-day OVP Sportsfest, which went on a three-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, is seen to promote camaraderie and a sense of belongingness among the employees, the value of teamwork and the ability to work well with each other, promote a healthy lifestyle and create health awareness.
The sports fest consists of various sports such as basketball, volleyball, darts, badminton, bowling, and games such as word factory, sungka, darts, chess, and Mobile Legends.
There will also be “Laro ng Lahi” games like patintero, longest line, luksong lubid, tug of war, luksong baka, hula hoop race, and kadang-kadang.
