Vice President Sara Duterte on Friday met with the ambassadors of Nigeria and Qatar at the Office of the Vice President in Mandaluyong City.
Nigerian Ambassador, Her Excellency Folakemi Ibidunni Akinleye, and His Excellency Ahmed Saad Al Homidi, State of Qatar Ambassador to the Philippines, made separate courtesy calls on the Vice President on Friday.
The Nigerian envoy thanked Duterte for the message she sent them during their 1st Nigeria-Philippines Business Forum and 1st Nigeria-Philippines Women in Leadership Summit last year.
They discussed possible collaborations in the field of education.
Duterte also took the opportunity to thank the Nigerian government for taking care of Filipinos, especially seafarers, in Nigeria.
“We would like to thank you and your country for taking care of Filipino seafarers in Nigeria. We truly appreciate your kindness," the Vice President said.
The Vice President was also pleased to receive His Excellency Saad Al-Homidi, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Philippines, who presented his credentials to the President last March 23.
Duterte thanked the Qatari government for its collaboration with the Office of the Vice President and the Department of Education where the Qatar Embassy distributed school supplies and FIFA World Cup souvenirs to selected school children.
Last year, Qatar hosted the FIFA World Cup, the first to be held in an Arab country.
