MANDALUYONG CITY — Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte highlighted the four pillars of the Department of Education Basic Education Program (BEDP) 2030 — access, equity, quality and governance.
In a video message for DepEd’s First 100 days, Duterte said that the Marcos administration, cognizant of the value of continuity of programs in government, adopted the Basic Education Development Plan 2030 from the previous administration of Former DepEd Secretary Leonor Briones.
“BEDP 2030 is designed to address the immediate impacts of the pandemic on learning participation, and education delivery, address the remaining access gaps, improve education quality and build resilience,” Duterte said.
She added that the Department of Education successfully re-opened in-person classes last Aug 22 and is continuing to assess the institutionalization of blended learning and online classes in basic education.
In line with its aim to improve the quality of education, Duterte said the new administration was able to “sustain the review of the K to Grade 10 program from the previous administration and is set to start reviews for Grades 11 and 12.”
She added that the Marcos administration is also focusing on the welfare of teachers with approval from the Department of Budget and Management for the creation of 5,000 administrative personnel positions for the year 2023.
Likewise, the Marcos administration guaranteed that teachers will receive the final tranche of the salary increase in 2023 as provided for in Republic Act 11466.
“The DepEd, under the leadership of President Bongbong Marcos Jr. is committed to the goal for all Filipinos to realize their full potential and contribute meaningfully to a cohesive nation through the protection and promotion of the right to education,” Duterte said. OVP MEDIA
