DASMARIÑAS, Cavite — A mother of four learned from Vice President Sara Duterte about the importance of family planning in ensuring that resources to support the needs of children to succeed are provided.
Rutchiel Moratal, 28, was one of the mothers whose children were beneficiaries of the PagbaBAGo campaign of the Office of the Vice President.
Some 500 students here received the PagbaBAGo bags which contained school supplies and dental kits.
Listening to the Vice President’s message on the relevance of supporting children achieve their dreams, Moratal reflected on the challenges of raising her children and the significance of family planning.
“[Natutunan ko] sa family planning na kailangan muna pagplanuhin para hindi dumami nang dumami ang anak at hindi kami mahirapan sa pagpapa-aral sa mga anak namin,” she said while carrying her two-year old child and attending to her other two children.
Moratal admitted that they find it difficult to make both ends meet with her husband’s income as a construction worker is not enough.
“Hindi na po gaanong sapat [ang kita ng asawa] dahil masyado na pong mataas ang mga bilihin ngayon,” she said.
But despite the financial challenges in the family, she still dreams for her children a good and comfortable future which she did not have for herself.
“Sa paglaki nila, sana gumanda yung pamumuhay nila, kahit hindi na po sa amin basta sa kanila lang,” she said.
Meanwhile, VP Duterte, who personally campaigned to women and children the need for proper education and family planning as ways to escape the cycle of poverty, also emphasised to mothers that they have to ensure they include in their plans the future of their children.
