VP Sara First 100 Days: countrywide visits, Japan trip

Vice President Sara Duterte has attended various events in 16 provinces in the country since she assumed office 100 days ago.

The Vice President already covered 20 cities and municipalities, three island visits, and one out-of-the-country travel — all in less than 100 days.

Duterte’s travels across the country were all for official engagements, the implementation of her Office of the Vice President-led programs and activities, and as guest of honor in other local governments’ undertakings.

The Vice President, who also sits as Education Secretary, also made sure to have school visits during her out-of-town trips to personally evaluate situations of learning institutions. This initiative enabled the teaching force to have meaningful discussions with Duterte to address the sector’s concerns.

Duterte had visited Clarin National School of Fisheries in Bohol which was badly affected by typhoon Odette in 2021.

She also went to the Triana Elementary School on Limasawa Island in Southern Leyte during the launching of her OVP ‘PagbaBAGo’ program last August 10.

She also visited the Catbalogan IV Central Elementary School in Samar; Dinalupihan Elementary School, St. John Academy, and Pagalanggang National High School in Dinalupihan, Bataan; Don Pedro Vazquez Memorial School in Jordan, Guimaras; Lipata Elementary School in Caramoan, Camarines Sur; Amas National High School in Kidapawan, Cotabato; Siquijor Integrated School in Siquijor Island; and the Bangued North Elementary School in Bangued, Abra.

Late last month, the Vice President went to Japan to represent the Philippines as the Special Envoy to the state funeral of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

Duterte travelled with a Grade 9 student and her mother from Dinalupihan, Bataan as the pioneer recipient of her “You Can Be VP” project of the OVP. The two met with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, visited Minato Ward Shibahama Elementary School in Minato City, and met with officials from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology “to exchange views on blended learning, values and skill formation, STEM education and COVID-response.”
