Vice President Leni Robredo on Monday, January 17, visited the Office of the Vice President (OVP) Swab Cab at the Ynares Center in L. Sumulong Memorial Circle in Antipolo City, Rizal, which offered free antigen testing in response to the surge of COVID-19 cases.
VP Leni is advocating for free antigen testing to identify confirmed cases faster and mitigate the spread of the coronavirus.
The one day Swab Cab at the Ynares Center aims to reach 1,000 individuals. It is also open to walk-in patients from other cities and municipalities. The OVP Swab Cab started at 8am and will be open until all 1,000 test kits have been used. Those who will test positive at the Swab Cab will receive an OVP care kit and will be transferred to an isolation facility.
As of 2:10 pm, 461 antigen tests have been conducted where 54 people tested positive while 407 others tested negative, resulting in a positivity rate of 11.7 %.
VP Leni checked on the patients and the volunteers during her visit at the Ynares Center.
Later at the #RizaLeni online Meet and Greet organized by the Robredo People’s Council, VP Leni thanked everyone who made the event possible.
“Nagpapasalamat kami sa lahat ng partners, volunteer doctors, medical students, nurses, and supporters who took part in the entire operations. Hindi po natin magagawa ang ating mga giangawa kung hindi tayo tinutulungan ng napakaraming mga grupo,” VP Leni said. (Photos by jay Ganzon / OVP)
