MANDALUYONG CITY — The Office of the Vice President, through its Disaster Operations Center (OVP-DOC), provided relief assistance to a total of 1,921 individuals or 525 families from different fire incidents that happened in Samar province and Pasig City.
A total of 309 families or 951 individuals on Saturday (April 22) received relief boxes from the OVP-DOC after a residential fire incident that occurred along Esquerra Street and Reclosado Compound in Barangay Pinagbuhatan, Pasig City on April 11.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) placed the estimated cost of damage to P225,000. Some of the affected residents are temporarily taking shelter at the Damayan Multi-purpose Hall in Baranagay Pinagbuhatan.
On Thursday, April 20, a total of 216 families affected by two conflagrations in residential areas of Purok 3, Barangay Carmen and Purok 11-A, Barangay Obrero, Calbayog City on April 11, also received relief boxes from the OVP-DOC through the OVP Tacloban Satellite Office.
The OVP relief boxes, each containing sleeping mats, blankets, mosquito nets, hygiene kits such as alcohol, face masks and other sanitary items, were distributed to those who were left homeless by the fire.
