Qatari Ambassador Dr. Ali Ibrahim Al-Malki Discusses Areas of Cooperation with Vice President Sara Z. Duterte

MANDALUYONG CITY, 21 September 2022 – Qatari Ambassador Dr. Ali Ibrahim Al-Malki called on Vice President Sara Z. Duterte at the Office of the Vice President (OVP) Central Office in Mandaluyong City.

Vice President Duterte expressed her appreciation for the assistance and support of Qatar, especially to Davao. The Vice President particularly mentioned the direct flights of Qatar Airways from Doha, Qatar to Davao City which was launched in June 2019in order to boost investment and tourism in Mindanao.

Ambassador Al-Malki informed the Vice President about the upcoming hosting of Qatar of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) World Cup from 21 November to 18 December 2022. The tournament will be the first football World Cup to take place in the Middle East.

The Ambassador reiterated their support for cooperation on education. Vice President Duterte expressed her appreciation for their assistance especially to basic education. The Ambassador and the Vice President recognized the importance of education in defining the future of the country. The Vice President then highlighted the efforts of the Department of Education in ensuring universal access to education.

Ambassador Al-Malki will be ending his tour of duty in October 2022. He expressed his appreciation for the areas of cooperation between Qatar and the Philippines and extended his well wishes for the country and all Filipinos.
