MANILA — The Office of the Vice President (OVP) Sara Duterte has launched relief operations for the earthquake-affected families in the province of Abra.
Vice Presidential Spokesperson and Lawyer Reynold Munsayac said the Office of the Vice President is “always with the people” in the wake of the Magnitude 7 earthquake that struck Abra and nearby Northern Luzon areas on July 27.
“Through the modest relief efforts of the Office of the Vice President, we would like to convey a clear and humble message to the good people of Abra - we are always with you. Abra has a special place in our hearts,”Munsayac said.
The OVP team went to the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) in Bagued, Abra to deliver bottled waters, food packs, medicines, and other supplies to residents. The same were received by Ms. Myrna Bersalona, Abra Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer.
Volunteers from the Philippine Coast Guard, Philippine National Police (PNP Abra), Inday Sara Duterte Ako Movement (ISDA), and the OVP Disaster Operations Center (OVP-DOC) led the relief operations in the area.
According to the latest report from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), the number of households affected by the July 27 tremor has increased to 82,336, or a total of 314,161 people.
