MANDALUYONG CITY — In time for the celebration of Labor Day, the Office of the Vice President (OVP), together with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), on Monday released a total of P9,307,792 to beneficiaries of the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) in Bacolod City.
A total of 1,898 workers, with low-paying jobs or inadequate earnings, from 17 different barangays in the city received P4,500 each.
The TUPAD beneficiaries, assigned to do four-hour daily clean-up work in their respective village for 10 days, received a daily wage of P450.
In a video message, Vice President Sara Duterte recognized the sacrifices of Filipino workers who work not only for themselves and their families but for the country.
“We continue to highlight the importance of your welfare as you are one of the most important foundations of nation-building. Your progress and success contribute to a more dynamic economy and reflect the outcome of our vision of uplifted lives for the Filipino people,” Duterte said.
“Salamat sa lahat ng ating manggagawang Pilipino. Kasama ninyo kaming naninindigan sa pag-asang matupad natin ang ating pangarap na isang progresibo, inklusibo at matatag na Pilipinas,” she added.
TUPAD is a community-based package of assistance that provides emergency employment for displaced workers, underemployed and seasonal workers for a minimum period of 10 days, but not to exceed a maximum of 30 days, depending on the nature of work to be performed.
