MANDALUYONG CITY — The Office of the Vice President (OVP), through its Disaster Operations Center (DOC), conducted relief operations in flood-hit towns in the three provinces of the Zamboanga Peninsula.
Over 500 sacks of rice were turned over to the affected residents of Zamboanga del Norte, through the OVP Zamboanga Satellite Office, Zamboanga del Norte Provincial Government and Zamboanga del Norte Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) on January 24.
According to the latest report, over 4,318 families with a total of 17,863 individuals in that province were affected due to scattered rain showers and thunderstorms, resulting in flooding cased by the Low Pressure Area (LPA).
The province of Zamboanga del Sur on January 24 and 25 also received aid from the OVP-DOC and OVP Zamboanga Satellite Office, which delivered over 200 sacks of rice to 606 families. The aid was received by Zamboanga del Sur Governor Victor Yu and Molave Municipal Mayor Ireneo Glepa.
As of Wednesday afternoon, January 25, the OVP-DOC, through its quick response teams in the different field offices, has provided 100 sacks of rice to over 203 flood-affected families in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay. The sacks of rice were received by Zamboanga Sibugay Governor Dulce Ann Hofer.
