Two Lanao del Norte towns and the province of Eastern Samar, which were affected by flooding early this month, received rice assistance from the Office of the Vice President-Disaster Operations Center on Friday.
The towns of Tubod and Baroy in Lanao de Norte received 440 and 60 sacks of rice, respectively, while the provincial government of Eastern Samar was given with 300 sacks of rice.
The flooding in the two provinces were both caused by heavy rainfall and thunderstorms due to the Trough of Low Pressure Area (LPA) that started on January 2.
Tubod Municipal Mayor Dionisio Cabahug Jr. received the rice assistance that will be distributed to 2,200 families in his town. Baroy town Mayor Grelina Lim, on the other hand, received the items for 300 families affected.
Easter Samar Provincial Administrator Nelson Cortez also received rice assistance for 2,822 affected families.
The relief mission in Lanao del Norte was carried out with help from the provincial government and its Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO).
The DOC-led activity in Eastern Samar was done in partnership with the OVP Tacloban Satellite Office, Eastern Samar provincial government and its PDRRMO.
