The Office of the Vice President-Disaster Operation Center (OVP-DOC) on Tuesday again went to Davao de Oro province, bringing relief boxes to the families affected by recent flooding.
Spearheaded by the OVP-Davao Satellite Office, the DOC team distributed 500 boxes of relief assistance to 396 families or 1,235 individuals who were taking temporary shelters in four evacuation facilities in the towns of New Bataan and Nabunturan.
The flooding, which affected thousands of individuals in the province, was due to a Low Pressure Area (LPA) last March 14-15. The heavy downpour also caused landslides.
The affected residents are temporarily housed at Pagliaan Elementary School and Municipal Evacuation Gymnasium in New Bataan, and in Barangay Bukal and Barangay Mainit in Nabunturan.
Earlier this month, the DOC launched operations to provide 1,052 relief boxes in the towns of New Bataan and Maragusan which were badly hit by a 5.9 and 6.2 Magnitude earthquakes on March 7.
