CARMEN, Davao del Norte — The Office of the Vice President Disaster Operations Center (OVP-DOC) on Wednesday gave relief assistance to residents of flood-affected areas in this town.
A total of 331 families currently staying at evacuation centers have received relief boxes containing sleeping mats, blankets, mosquito nets, hygiene kits such as alcohol, face masks and other sanitary items.
Meanwhile, 103 flood-affected families, but did not evacuate, also received 500 sacks of rice.
An OVP-DOC report showed that 308 flood-displaced families are residents of Barangay Ising, while 23 families are residents of Barangay New Camiling. They are now seeking shelter temporarily at the Carmen Municipal Evacuation Center.
Some of the affected residents are staying with relatives in non-flooded areas.
