At 9:00 am, the Vice President visited the San Remigio Mental Health Facility in Poblacion San Remigio, Cebu. After Typhoon Yolanda in 2013, the Municipality of San Remigio, together with Americares, started a community-based mental health program, which included raising awareness of mental health issues and administering free medication to patients. The Mental Health Facility will serve as the treatment center for mentally-ill patients. Through the Vice President’s Angat Buhay program, the LGU has also partnered with the Philippine Mental Health Association (PMHA) Cebu Chapter. The group, composed of psychiatrists, social workers, and advocates, provides consultations, administration of medicines and therapy. The succeeding community clinic visits of PMHA Cebu will be held in the new Mental Health Facility. The facility will be operated by the LGU, and managed by the Municipal Health Officer (MHO).
