Message of Vice President Leni Robredo Easter Sunday Mass

Message of Vice President Leni Robredo Easter Sunday Mass

Magandang umaga at Happy Easter sa ating lahat. Maraming salamat kay Fr. Tito Caluag for presiding over this mass, and to everyone who joined us through Facebook Live sa iba’t ibang mga channels na available.

Ito na ang pangalawa nating paggunita ng Holy Week at Easter since the pandemic started. Alam ko, lalo na in the recent weeks, napakahirap manood ng balita dahil sa patuloy nating pagharap sa mga hamong dala ng COVID-19. Habang pataas nang pataas ang mga kaso sa mga komunidad natin, we see our health workers bearing the brunt of an overwhelmed healthcare system. It breaks our hearts to see friends and their families losing loved ones because of the virus.

Sa nakalipas na isang taon, napakarami nang nawala sa atin—our way of life, our sense of anchorage, our hope for the future. Marami tayong pinagdaanan na sakit at pighati, pero sa kabila nito, we find ourselves here, in the comfort of one another—humuhugot ng lakas sa bawat isa, pinagbubuklod ng iisang hangarin na malagpasan ang hamon na ito.

Sabi ko nga, this Easter and Lenten Season reminds us that during these extraordinary times of darkness, we are renewed by our faith and hope, and more so recently, by our love for one another. Last week lang, a lot of people were asking us on Facebook how they could help and how they could donate medical supplies for our frontliners, mga pagkain. Kaya kahit na Holy Week, bukas ang opisina namin to accept boxes of medical supplies and relief goods from generous donors. Patunay lang ito ng lagi nating sinasabi: The only way through any crisis is together.

So as we come together today, we pray that we continue to draw strength from each other, to keep reaching out, to be bridges where we can. Today, we also remember the loved ones that we lost, the medical professionals and frontliners who put their lives on the line to save our families—we will keep them always in our hearts, and honor their memory the best way we can.

We invite you after this mass, there will be an interreligious prayer service. We invited leaders of the different religious denominations to join us, para as one community we pray together for healing of those who are sick, we pray for our country, we pray for our dearly departed na nawala sa atin during the pandemic. We hope you could all join us after this. We will be livestreaming, sa Facebook Live, sa amin pong Facebook Page.

    Maraming salamat uli.
