Laguna mayor thankful for OVP’s Typhoon Paeng relief ops

SAN PEDRO CITY, Laguna — Mayor Art Joseph Francis Mercado on Tuesday thanked the Office of the Vice President’s Disaster Operation Center (OVP-DOC) for the 100 sacks of rice intended for the victims of Typhoon Paeng.

So we’re very, very thankful for your support,” he added.

San Pedro City Social Welfare and Development Head Maria Fatima Autor said the LGU recorded a total number of 1,211 individuals in six evacuation centers in the city.

She added that the San Pedro City government is looking into prioritizing the Barangays of Cuyab, San Roque and Landayan, these being the largest of all the barangays and are situated near the Laguna bay.

Autor also thanked the OVP-DOC for the aid for the typhoon-affected people of San Pedro, Laguna.

The OVP-DOC team, together with volunteers from the Philippine National Police (PNP) and Philippine Air Force (PAF), led the relief operations in the area.

According to the latest report from San Pedro City Chief of Police Superintendent Victor Aclan, nine of the city’s 27 barangays were heavily affected by the onslaught of Typhoon Paeng.
