Irish Ambassador William John Carlos Discusses Key Areas of Bilateral Cooperation with Vice President Sara Z. Duterte

PASIG CITY, 17 August 2022 – Irish Ambassador William John Carlos called on Vice President Sara Z. Duterte at the Department of Education (DepEd) Central Office in Pasig City. In his remarks, the Ambassador congratulated the Vice President on her election.

During the call, Ambassador Carlos and Vice President Duterte discussed key areas of cooperation such as education, cultural exchange, and trade. The Ambassador mentioned the developing relations between the two countries in both the bilateral and multilateral spheres. He also described the high connectivity between the Philippines and Ireland and recognized the huge contributions of Filipinos in Ireland especially during the pandemic. 

The Ambassador shared about Ireland’s strategies for attracting business in their country. The Irish delegation explained the evolution of education inIreland anddescribed the offerings of educational institutions in Ireland as focused and strategic. The delegation further talked aboutthe linkage between the curriculum and industry needs which has helped in the students’ smooth transitionfromeducation to career.The opening of classes in the countrywas also discussed.
