At 8:30 am, the Vice President attended the awarding ceremony of Angat Buhay Youth Peace Advocates Summit at the Gateway Gallery, Araneta City, Quezon City. The Summit was a nationwide gathering in Metro Manila of 31 youth organizations who advocate for lasting peace in Mindanao and BARMM. Some of the goals of the Summit is to deepen the understanding of the youth on the concepts of peace and peacebuilding, in the context of Mindanao and BARMM; introduce peace education as an essential strategy for peacebuilding; and capacitate and empower the youth in developing and implementing peace initiatives towards the promotion of the culture of peace in their chosen communities. It is co-implemented by the Office of the Vice President, Teach Peace Build Peace Movement, J. Amado Araneta Foundation (JAAF), and in partnership with the Office of the Bangsamoro Youth Affairs (OBYA), and the United Voices for Peace Network.

In her speech the Vice President told the many stories of youth organizations who took the initiative and are working on creative and innovative projects anchored on making impactful change. “We have always said that government cannot solve all of the country’s problems alone. The best solutions come from those on the ground, those who listen and understand where and why these problems arise. The best solutions come from those who have open hearts and open minds, those who do not stop dreaming even after we have achieved our goals. Building peace and creating change cannot be done overnight. Together, we can create a strong, resilient nation built on a citizenry that is bound by love for country and for his fellowmen.”
