Australian Ambassador Hae Kyong Yu, PSM Discusses Bilateral Relations with Vice President Sara Z. Duterte

MANDALUYONG CITY, 07 November 2022 – Australian Ambassador Hae Kyong Yu, PSM called on Vice President Sara Z. Duterte at the Office of the Vice President (OVP) Central Office in Mandaluyong City.

The Ambassador recognized the importance of the education portfolio as a driver of economic growth of a country. The Vice President briefed the Ambassador about the Basic Education Development Plan 2030, issues surrounding the education sector in the country, and proposed strategies. She also informed the Ambassador of the ongoing projects at the OVP.

The Ambassador recognized the Philippines as the 5th largest bilateral program of Australiawith education as one of the priority pillars. Ambassador Yu informed the Vice President of ongoing projects of Australia in the Philippines in the sectors of peace, women and children, and disaster response. The Vice President expressed her appreciation for these initiatives.

The Ambassador expressed her intent to work closely with the Philippines on areas of common interest to both countries.

The Philippines and Australia are celebrating 76 years of diplomatic relations in 2022.
