DAVAO CITY — More than 6,000 Dabawenyos received spaghetti packs from Vice President Sara Duterte on Monday.
The Vice President attended the gift-giving activities for various sectors this morning.
A total of 669 Special Education (SPED) students at the Apolinario Mabini Elementary School and Davao City Special National High School in Barangay Bangkal were among the recipients of the spaghetti packs and five kilograms of rice.
The same items were distributed to 1,500 children in Barangay New Camer in Tugbok District. The goods also benefited children from nearby barangays of New Valencia and Matina Biao.
New Carmen Barangay Captain Jerry Ceballos thanked the Vice President for bringing the "pamasko packages" to his community giving families something to prepare for media noche.
“Daghan kaayong salamat Vice President Sara Duterte sa imong natabang ug gihatag nga pinaskuhan sa among kabataan. Enjoy kaayo mi— ang mga kabataan ug mga kadagkuan sa Barangay New Carmen,” Ceballos said.
“Dako kaayo to nga tabang pang-New Year, pang-celebrate sa Bag-ong Tuig,” the barangay captain added.
Aside from children whom Duterte described as “gusto og spaghetti ug chickenjoy,” the Vice President also led the distribution of another 2,000 packs to sidewalk vendors and 2,002 barangay functionaries at the People’s Park.
Carrying her message of loving, forgiving, and sharing as the core theme for Christmas, the Vice President also thanked Dabawenyos for supporting her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte.
Jaime Sorbito, 65, a sidewalk vendor from Barangay Leon Garcia, Agdao, said he appreciated the efforts of the Vice President who took time to personally meet them.
“Dako kaayo ko og pasalamat nga diri sa syudad sa Davao City, daghan og nahimo ang atong Vice President ug Mayor— mga Duterte nga pamilya,” he said.
“Mapasalamaton mi, kaming mga sidewalk vendors nga naay mga Duterte nga naghatag sa amoa og mga kalipayon alang sa kapaskuhan,” he added.
