Ensuring to make commuting more accessible, secure, and efficient for all Filipinos
The Libreng Sakay Program, a collaborative effort between the Office of the Vice President, the Department of Transportation, the Metro Manila Development Authority, and private entities, was officially launched on 3 August 2022.
The OVP has deployed four buses in Metro Manila and one bus each in the cities of Cebu, Davao, and Bacolod, offering free transportation services to the public.
The implementation of the program follows the guidelines set forth by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) under Memorandum Circular No. 2022-031 and adhere to the prevailing regulations issued by government agencies, including those related to commuting safety during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The program has already served thousands of Filipinos who rely on public transportation for their daily commutes to work, school, and other activities.
