    • Statement on Ateneo Shooting

Posted in VP Sara - Statements on Jul 24, 2022

Vice President Sara Z. Duterte strongly condemns the shooting incident inside Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) campus Sunday afternoon.

Such an act of violence should have no place in our society, especially in a place of learning — which is supposed to be considered a safe space for everyone, for the students mainly.

The Vice President sends her prayers and deepest condolences to the victims' families.

The Philippine National Police is also strongly urged to address gun violence in the country — and consistent operations against illegal firearms could be one of the effective measures to do ...

    • On the question of SONA attire

Posted in VP Sara - Statements on Jul 22, 2022

Vice President Sara Duterte will depart from the traditional Filipiñana and honor her kababayans from the Bagobo Tagabawa tribe of Davao City.

Unfortunately, an entire ensemble would take over a month to make by tribal artisans, which will not make it on time for Monday’s SONA. VP Sara Duterte will instead borrow a Bagobo Tagabawa traditional dress from Bae Sheirelle Anino, the Deputy Mayor of the Tagabawa tribe of Davao City.

      Thank you.

The President agreed that a plan should be made with a caveat that face-to-face classes shall be the priority and blended modality shall be considered only in specific schools and areas with special circumstances.

DepEd will prepare a plan to be reviewed by the President. No details are forthcoming anytime so...

    • VP Sara Z. Duterte on wearing of uniforms for public school learners

Posted in VP Sara - Statements on Jul 18, 2022

Even before the pandemic, it is not a strict requirement for public schools to wear uniforms (DepEd Order No. 065, s. 2010) to avoid incurring additional costs to the families of our learners. All the more that it will not be required this School Year given the increasing prices and economic losses due to the pandemic.
