Vice President Leni Robredo spoke about challenges in the pursuit of good governance at the graduation of Leaders for Excellence and Public Service (LEAP) Mayors’ Fellowship Program Batch 3 at the Quezon City Reception House on Friday, March 6, 2020. The leadership program—organized by Kaya Natin! and San Miguel Corporation for incumbent mayors around the country—aims to equip mayors with the competencies of an effective, ethical and empowering leader.
In her remarks, VP Leni emphasized the importance of leaders standing up for what is right and ethical even if it means going against the political tide. “If you look back at our history, marami talagang madidilim na bahagi ng history. Pero kung nag-contribute kasi tayo sa kadiliman, kung naging enabler tayo sa kadiliman, nagiging pareho lang tayo ng marami. Pero if we stand our ground, kapag lumiwanag na ulit iyon iyong pagkakataon natin to shine kasi wala namang nagsha-shine sa oras ng liwanag, eh. Parating iyong mga nagsha-shine, nanggagaling sa panahon ng kadiliman,” she said. (Photo by Jay Ganzon / OVP)
