    • VPSD Sit-Down Meeting with Security Sector Press Message

Posted in VP Sara - Statements on Sep 05, 2022

Assalamulaikum. Magandang araw. Maayong adlaw sa tanan.

Today, I hosted a sit-down meeting with the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the commanders of the AFP’s major services — the Philippine Army, Philippine Air Force, and the Philippine Navy; together with the chiefs and official representatives of the Philippine National Police, the Bureau of Fire Management, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, and officials from the Office of the Vice President and the Department of Education.

Our objective was to strengthen existing coordination and enhance interagency cooper...

    • Message of VP Sara Duterte on National Heroes day

Posted in VP Sara - Statements on Aug 29, 2022

Our history as a nation is marked by the blood of our forebears who selflessly offered their lives for the liberation of the Philippines and the Filipino people.

As we honor our National Heroes today, may we not only look back with admiration at their profound sense of patriotism but also look at the future of our country and its unrelenting longing for the same profound sense of patriotism from us.

The blood of our National Heroes is the same blood of bravery, selflessness, and love of country and fellowmen that continues to flow across the nation today — now permeating into the minds and hea...

    • Statement of VP Sara on Walden Bello’s Accusations

Posted in VP Sara - Statements on Aug 09, 2022

When I was a child, my father gave me sound advice — never listen to attacks hurled against our family. And I took it to heart during my VP campaign. I never shared my spotlight with Walden Bello despite the offensives he launched against me. I was focused on drilling my education platform in all the rallies that I could muster. In fact, I have never filed a libel case in my life. Criticisms do not deserve even a backward glance because the accomplishments of Davao City under my leadership are already set in stone.

Instead of deflecting blame, playing the victim of an imaginary case of politic...

    • Statement Regarding Makabayan bloc

Posted in VP Sara - Statements on Aug 01, 2022

I always have time for Makabayan bloc. The laugh that I get reading Makabayan bloc’s hypocritical and dramatically rehashed statements — while thinking about how the Filipino people rejected the bid of Bayan Muna and two other Makabayan bloc partylist groups to once again infiltrate Congress and legitimize their existence while pretending that we do not know about their ‘love affair’ with the NPA, the NDFP and the CPP — is a way to de-stress from all the challenges the Department of Education and the government need to address without the help of Makabayan bloc, of course.

    • Statement by VP Sara Duterte on the Death of Former President Fidel V. Ramos

Posted in VP Sara - Statements on Jul 31, 2022

I convey my deepest condolences to the bereaved family of former President Fidel V. Ramos.

I am one with the whole nation in grieving over the loss of a leader who, during his presidency, made peace possible in Mindanao. In 1996, he signed the peace agreement with the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF), which ended the 24-year Moro armed revolution headed by Nur Misuari.

FVR aggressively championed Filipino competitiveness in the global arena and through his socio-economic agenda called ‘Philippines 2000’, liberalized the country’s economy — resulting in the significant improvements in the ...
