Vice President Leni Robredo inspects her office’s repacking, sorting, and testing area for locally produced protective suits on Tuesday, April 21, 2020. The reusable suits—delivered to hospitals as part of the OVP assistance drive for frontliners—were made through the office’s collaboration with fashion designers, manufacturing companies, and even with groups of women in communities in need. The pattern and techpack for these suits were created by the Manila Protective Gear Sewing Club, led by fashion designer and milliner Mich Dulce, with the prescribed fabric, Taffeta Silver Back Lining, duly approved by doctors consulted by the OVP and its partners. Each suit also comes with “care instructions”, or a guide on how to ensure its quality for reuse. Various fabrics donated for this initiative are also tested before they are cleared for use.

The Office of Vice President Leni Robredo and its Angat Buhay partners have opened a dormitory for health workers and frontliners this week. The dormitory, located somewhere in Cubao, Quezon City, is open for health workers, medical practitioners, and other frontliners like security guards, as well as other volunteers of programs related to our collective response against COVID-19. The initiative was made in response to requests received by the OVP amid its ongoing assistance drive. Given the limited space in line with social distancing measures, requests are accommodated on a first come, first served basis. Additional details and updates are available on the VP Leni Robredo Facebook page. This initiative was made possible by Mr. Jay Ignacio, the Rotary Club of San Juan del Monte, the Spouses of Rotary Club of San Juan North, and Matrix Appliances PH. (Photo by Charlie Villegas / OVP)
