At 1:30 pm, the Vice President attended the 11thCommencement Exercises of Teodoro M. Luansing (TML) College of Rosario in Lipa City, Batangas. The event had the theme “Unity in Diversity: Quality Education for All”. TML was founded in 2004 by the late Teodoro Luansing and seventy percent of its student population are scholars. There were 173 graduates from the Senior High School Department.
In her speech, the Vice President talked about greater challenges the students will face outside the four walls of the classroom. She emphasized that they should always stand for what is right to protect the freedom and democracy of the country. “Ang araw na ito ay isang bagong simula, para harapin nang mas may tapang ang mundong naghihintay sa atin paglabas ng eskwelahan. Ngayon, hindi na lang simpleng problema ng Math o Science ang kailangan hanapan natin ng solusyon. Responsibilidad na rin ninyo ang inyong mga pamilya, lalo na sa pag-aalaga sa inyong mga magulang. Bilang bahagi ng isang mas malaking komunidad, mahalaga ang boses ninyong kabataan sa mga usaping panlipunan. Ngayon, kasama na rin kayo sa mas malaking laban natin para sa ating bayan, tulad ng pagtatanggol ng ating kalayaan at demokrasya, masigurong protektado ang karapatang-pantao ng bawat isa, at pagtindig sa kung ano ang tama, at pagtakwil sa kung ano ang mali sa ating lipunan.”
At 4:00 pm, the Vice President visited Dualtech Training Center at Carmelray Industrial Park 1, Calamba City, Laguna. The Dualtech Training Center Foundation Inc., is the pioneer of the Dual Training System Program (DTS), a model where both school and industry train students in real life work experience. It has more than 140 partner companies where students undergo their on-the-job training. Dualtech is the Office of the Vice President’s Angat Buhay partner and has been training out-of-school youth from some Angat Buhay communities since 2018.
